SUMMER 2013 PLANS: AZORES & BACK

De voorbereidingen voor een hernieuwd bezoek aan deze bijzondere bestemming zijn gaande en hoewel Gateway pas later deze week weer te water gaat zijn de plannen al min of meer rond. Het idee is om naar Plymouth of Falmouth te varen en vandaag rechtstreeks naar het eiland Faial omdat daar een bijzondere OCC rally start waarvoor we hebben ingeschreven. Het rallydiner is 2 juli in Café Sport, Horta. Arga vliegt dan in en blijft ca 2 weken aan boord, Jan van Ree vaart mee op de uitreis. Twee medeleden van de VYA, de Vancouver eigenaren vereniging, met een V27 en een V28, varen ook naar de Azoren en hoewel we niet in konvooi zullen varen verwachten we elkaar wel onderweg te ontmoeten. We houden contact met mobiele telefoons, marifoons, korte golf (SSB) en email.
Vertrek zal ergens 2e helft mei zijn.

Preparations for a revisit of this special destination are in hand and although Gateway will not be launched before later this week the plan is more or less fixed. The idea is to sail to Plymouth or Falmouth and from there sail to Faial as this is going to be the starting point for a special OCC rally, the rally dinner is 2 July in Cafe Sport, Horta. Arga will join me for a couple of weeks cruising the archipelago (central part) and Jan van Ree will be the mate on the outbound trip. Two felllow VYA (Vancouver Yachts Association) members with a V27 and V28 have a similar plan and although we will not sail in company we expect to see each other while underway and will stay in touch by means of cellphone, email, SSB and VHF.
